Group Games




This is the last full week for the school year.  We will be playing group games and reviewing skills learned through out the year.  The emphasis this week is on displaying good sportsmanship and teamwork as a part of these games.  We will also be passing out awards for fitness at the end of this week.

We will be review past units and playing group games this week.  Most of this week will be a review of flag football.  Games that allow the students to run, throw and catch the football are taking place along with some other related group games.

We will be completing our fitness testing in third and fourth grade this week.  The fourth grade class will be taking part in the mile run on Monday.  Third grade will  run the mile on Tuesday.  The younger grades will be playing soccer and other team sports included in this trimester.  All classes will continue to work on emphasizing good sportsmanship and teamwork.

Fitness Testing and group games

We will begin fitness testing this week.  Third and fourth grade will be taking part in the presidential physical fitness test for the final time this school year.  Third grade will be in the mini gym on Tuesday for the sit-and-reach and sit-ups, on the court for the shuttle run on Wednesday, and over at the pull-ups/arm hang on Friday.  They will finish up with the mile run and Tuesday of next week.  Fourth grade will begin with the shuttle run on Wednesday.  This will be followed by pull--ups/arm hang on Thursday, and sit-ups and sit-and-reach on Friday.  The mile run for fourth grade will take place on Monday of next week.  
Kindergarten through second grade will be taking part in some group and to promote teamwork and sportsmanship.  They will also get a chance review learned skills for each of the units.

Hockey Week



This week is all about indoor hockey in coach Cameron's Classes. The younger grades will be learning how to hold and use the indoor hockey stick safely.  They will also practice holding the stick correctly while passing and shooting.  Modified hockey games will be played at the end of the week.  The older grades will be working on holding, passing at shooting the hockey puck using correct form.  Drills for passing and shooting the puck will take place along with drills for accuracy.  Games will be played at the end of the week as well.

Run fast.... Jump high..... Throw far!!





We are continuing with our track and field unit this week.  The younger grades will be learning how to use a stopwatch, jump over mini hurdles, run relays and use correct form while taking part in the shot-put.  They will also continue to focus on running in their assigned lanes when sprinting. The older kids with be learn how to use correct form when high-jumping, jumping over hurdles, running the 100m dash, and taking part in shot-put.

Track & Field

We are starting our track and field unit this week.
Kindergarten and first grade will be working on starting and running 
short sprints while focusing on staying inside running lanes on the track. 
They will also learn how to use a stopwatch to record time.  
 Second through fourth grade will be focusing on using the 
correct form while running, using the correct form when coming 
out of the starting blocks, and learning how to finish a sprint correctly.  
All grades are taking part in the long jump and high jump this week as well.

The Soccer Games



Coach Cameron's classes will be playing soccer games all this week.  After focusing on dribbling, passing, trapping, shooting, and other skills last week, all of the classes are taking part in games.  The games for kindergarten and first grade will focus on working together as a team, showing good sportsmanship, and keeping the ball in play and using their in-step to control the ball.  The older grades are focusing on moving the soccer ball through space by making good passes, controlling and trapping the ball, and kicking the ball on target towards the goal.

Soccer after the break



This week is all about soccer in coach Cameron's P.E. classes.  Kindergarten and First grade will be focusing on passing and dribbling the ball correctly with small groups, dribbling around set courses, and other drills to build on their skill set for passing and dribbling.  Second grade will focus on using their in-step to pass and trap the ball, dribbling around set cones and kicking for accuracy towards set objects.  Third grade will be working on dribbling, passing, trapping and shooting the ball with correct form. The Third graders are also going the play some modified games this week.  The Fourth graders will focus on passing the ball with only one touch, shooting the directly off of a pass, heading, trapping, and games will also be played.

Flag football Games

All of the classes will be playing flag football games this week.  The younger grades will be taking part in modified flag football games. Catching and running with the football are the focus of this week's games for the younger grades.  The older grades are playing football games as well.   Their games will focus on hiking, throwing catching, and running with the football.  Playing defense is another focus point as well.  






We are having our Lower Division Field Day on Friday of this week.  Please remember to pack sunscreen as it scheduled to take place from 10:00am to 11:30am.

On the field





We completed our basketball unit with some games at the end of last week.  All of the students did a wonderful job learning new skills and showing good sportsmanship on the court.    








Coach Cameron's P.E. classes will be stepping off of the basketball court and onto the football field this week. Kindergarten and first grade will learn how to hold and throw a mini football,   catch and run with the ball, as well as learn how to grab the flags correctly. The older grades are focusing on throwing to moving targets, catching while running, hiking the ball, and learning how to hand-off correctly.

We're Playing Basketball



We are continuing with basketball this week.  The younger grades are focusing on using their finger tips and wrist to dribble through space.  They are also working on learning how to use the backboard as help while shooting. Kindergarten and first grade will be playing modified games related to basketball at the end of the week.  Second grade will continue to work on alternating hands when dribbling, using the backboard as an option for shooting, and pivoting and passing the basketball.  Third grade will work on dribbling into a lay-up, rebound, and shooting with correct form.  The fourth grade boys are working on keeping their eyes straight while dribbling around set cones,  dribbling into a lay-up, and catch and shooting.  Second, third, and fourth grade will be taking part in modified games as well.

It is a new trimester, and once again time to switch coaches.  I would like to welcome all of the students coming from coach Pope's P.E. classes.  Throughout this trimester we will continue to work on have good sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development for each sport.  
This week is all about the game of basketball.  Kindergarten and first grade will be working on things like dribbling the basketball in one place, dribbling the basketball along the lines of the court, passing the ball to partners correctly, and getting the ball above the basketball using one or two hands.  Second grade will be focusing on skills like dribbling the basketball while alternating hands, looking up while dribbling the basketball, and passing and shooting with correct form.  Third and forth grade will be practicing using correct form while dribbling around set cones on the court,  passing and shooting with correct form, pivoting, laying-up the ball, and teamwork.

Track and fitness testing





This week will be full of many different events for all classes.  The younger grades will be continuing with their track and field unit.  They will be practicing how to run and pass the baton, staying in given lanes while running, and using the stopwatches to keep time for others in their group.  Third and fourth grade will be continuing with fitness testing this week.  Third grade will be on the track for the mile run on Tuesday.  The shuttle run, sit-ups, arm hang/pull-ups, and the sit & reach test are also on the schedule for third and fourth.

Track & Field

This week is all about track and field.  We started this unit last week, and will be continuing with it this week as well.  The younger grades will be working on starting out of the blocks,  running within assigned lanes, holding and running with the baton correctly, and jumping over mini hurdles using the same lead foot.  The older grades will work on passing the baton properly, coming out of the starting blocks correctly, 50 meter dash, 75 meter dash (fourth grade), and mini hurdles.  Fourth grade is also scheduled to run the mile on Thursday of this week.

Kick and Run



All of coach Cameron's classes will be playing indoor soccer games in the recreation gym this week.  We will complete our soccer unit on Wednesday, and will be moving on to our track and field unit by Thursday of this week.  
On Thursday of this week we will begin our track and field unit.  Kindergarten and first grade will be working on starting and running short sprints while focusing on staying inside running lanes on the track. New Year........New Week.....

Happy New Year and welcome back all of the students and parents in the lower division.  We will be starting our soccer unit at the end of this week.  The younger grades will be focusing on learning to manipulate the ball with both feet by playing cooperative games.  The older grades will be working on simple passing and trapping of the ball with both feet.  The older grades will also practice controlling the soccer ball while dribbling it around set cones.   All of the students will also be taking part in some group games to continue to build on a spirit of togetherness and good sportsmanship.
